A great install is ... doing it right the first time

You can buy the best window on the market, but if it isn't installed properly you just blew it!

Replacing the windows on your home is not a do-it-your-selfer job; it takes an understanding of how you are going to take out the existing one. You have to know how to measure what is going to go back in: width, height and depth. You have to know how to tie into the existing exterior envelope (an industry term for everything that is on the exterior of your home, that works together to keep moisture out and at the same time let your walls breath). Damaging the exterior envelope of your home can have serious long-term consequences.

You have to use the right types of leveling devices to set the window plumb. You have to use the right types of expandable foam to insulate the rough opening. You have to make sure you install your peel and stick membrane in a proper order for overlaps. You have to know where to apply proper caulking. You have to know what a sill pan is. You have to know how to finish the exterior cladding, smart board or caulking to finalize the look. You need to be a good carpenter to case the interior.

A lot of this jargon can sound foreign to you and it should. Be sure you are getting a good installation; once it is complete you have to feel confident it is not going to LEAK!!!
